The Sunshine House was a cooperative which flourished
in Denver from 1973-6, Many musicians that played at the Oxford
Hotel would come and stay at the Sunshine House, which was a beautiful
red brick house that had originally been a convent. The chapel
on the second floor was a yoga room and music room with a piano
and the third floor was home to late night music. Many of the
musicians were bluegrass but other musicians, such as Kawamee
Hamilcar played jazz flute in the evening jams. The second floor
porch was a ceramic studio where Charlie Stuart and others could
be seen on the pottery wheels. It was optimistic, spiritually
based though not specifically so and was run by consensus. It
was paradise!
