Scientific Illustrations

by Katherine Arnoldi.

This is a caribid beetle, which eats boll weevil larvae. When I was working as an illustrator at the University of Arkansas Entomology Department, I made this illustration to be in a book that was to help farmers identify the insects in the fields before spraying insecticides. It won an award from the National Science Institute for reducing the use of pesticides in Arkansas.
