Colleges Need More Housing and Day Care

Mothers in college need more housing. Most of the family housing that does exist was built after WWII to house veterans and few colleges have added more, even though now international, graduate student and undergraduate student families compete for space.

  Stop Discrimination in High School

Teenage mothers have rights to be in school. High Schools Must Stop Coersing Pregnant and Parenting Teens to Leave School! It is against the school's anti-discrimination policy and a violation of Title IX, which says that educational providers may not discriminate on the basis of pregnancy.

 Child Care on College Campuses

Mothers on college campuses need affordable day care. The bright side on day care is the "Child Care Access Means Parents in Schools Program" gives grants which allow colleges to offer low cost or no cost day care to Pell Grant recipients. Therefore many of the large state universities have been able to expand day care facilities. For more information Go to Activist Mom page.

Title IX Means Equal Access to Education

Moms in Colleges have rights. IT'S THE LAW! Title IX is the federal law which protects gender equity in education. It has only been applied to sports. You can use this law if you feel you have been discriminated against on a college campus.
For more information and the complete text of Title IX click here.
